Meet the Leadership Team

Darryl Swantz

Hi! I live in Canon City, Colorado, with my wife Amy, where I am currently employed by New Horizons Ministries as the ARK Ministries Supervisor, working with kids affected by parental incarceration. While I won’t be a chief this year, I remain involved with overseeing and leading HIKE overall. My vision for HIKE is that it continues to grow and thrive, maintaining a strong foundation of identity and beliefs, with solid leaders and chiefs who love Jesus. I also want HIKE to be known as an organization of integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism. In recent years, it has been rewarding to see former hikers joining us as chiefs to pass on the values and lessons of HIKE to the next generation of young boys. Come join us on this adventure!

Clinton Miller

Hi, my name is Clinton Miller. I was born and raised in rural Hutchinson, Kansas.

I got married to my wife Tara in 2019 and we currently live full-time in an RV. We move every three or four months around different places in the country, staying near family. I do construction for work.

I love designing and innovating. I love playing music. But I love being a husband and father most of all.

I’m excited to be part of the HIKE leadership team, because I love seeing God work in the hearts of young men.

Dallas Knepp

Hi, I’m Dallas Knepp I live with my wife and family in Florence CO, which is close to Canon City CO.

I grew up in NW Ontario, Canada as a missionary kid. In Canada the outdoors were never far away and I always enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Living in Colorado also provides a lot of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

Ever since I was a teen I’ve been interested in programs like HIKE. Over the last 10 years I’ve had the privilege of working with HIKE. I’ve led HIKE groups for 5 or so years and for the last 5 years have been helping with the logistics organization.

I have a heart to see young men grow up to be Godly leaders, and I believe HIKE can be a big stepping stone in that direction. On the trail I enjoyed seeing the guys grow in their teamwork and ability to lead as well as seeing the guys learn to go farther than they thought possible.

James Yoder

Hi, my name is James Yoder. My first experience with HIKE was in 2011 when I signed up as a hiker. I was hooked from the start. I loved the outdoors, the camaraderie, the challenges, and the rewards of hard work. The lessons I learned on HIKE have impacted my life ever since.

My wife and I were married in 2018 and we are raising our two daughters in Westcliffe Colorado. There are few things that bring me as much joy as being a father. I count it a great joy and privilege.

I became involved with HIKE again in 2021 when I became a chief for the first time. I’ve been on a trail as a chief four times now and it has been a great joy for me to be able to be involved with HIKE in that way. I believe in the values of HIKE, the impact it can have in leading these young men in their walk with God, and the lessons it will leave with them for a lifetime.
